Abstract
LOPEZ-PINOS, Luis Alberto; CHACON-GOMEZ, Nayibe Eloína and ALFONSO-GONZALEZ, Iruma. Measures and requirements for verifying the accreditation of a legal document translator at a notary public. Noesis [online]. 2025, vol.7, n.esp2, pp.226-243. Epub Dec 31, 2025. ISSN 2739-0365. https://doi.org/10.35381/noesisin.v7i2.549.
The improvement of legal processes recognizes the official translation of documents as one of the most lacking and unexplored areas. Its complexity in terms of the quality and accuracy of translations, and the lack of clear standards and requirements, is an obstacle to the accreditation of translators. This process was analyzed by identifying its complexities in Spanish-speaking American countries. The measures and requirements for verifying the accreditation of a legal document translator in a notary's office are examined, highlighting the importance of certified translation and the need to establish evaluation and quality control systems. The mixed approach addressed documentary analysis, a comprehensive review of relevant doctrine, jurisprudence, and regulations, and a systematic and objective analysis of texts. The research emphasizes the establishment of clear standards and requirements, as well as the need to promote training, evaluation, and collaboration to improve translation practice in the legal field at the notarial level.
