Abstract
PACHECO-PROANO, Alex German; PROANO-REYES, Gladis Margot and CASTRO-SANCHEZ, Fernando de Jesús. Breach of the principle of efficiency and bribery in Ecuador's public administration. Noesis [online]. 2025, vol.7, n.esp2, pp.852-869. Epub Dec 31, 2025. ISSN 2739-0365. https://doi.org/10.35381/noesisin.v7i2.621.
This study aimed to analyze the relationship between non-compliance with the principle of efficiency and the commission of bribery offenses in public administration in Ecuador. The research was conducted using a qualitative approach, with a non-experimental design, based on an exhaustive review of the literature and analysis of relevant cases, focusing on the interpretive analysis of legal documents and data collection through interviews. It was found that failure to comply with the principle of efficiency facilitated the emergence of corrupt practices by creating an environment prone to lack of transparency and ineffective bureaucracy. In addition, administrative inefficiency contributed to the proliferation of bribery by allowing processes without adequate control or effective accountability. It was concluded that improving the efficiency of administrative processes could significantly reduce opportunities for bribery.
