Abstract
LALANGUI-GRANDA, Kleber Eduardo; PROANO-REYES, Gladis Margot and CASTRO-SANCHEZ, Fernando de Jesús. Confidentiality versus obtaining facial images by ECU911. Noesis [online]. 2025, vol.7, n.esp2, pp.1401-1419. Epub Dec 31, 2025. ISSN 2739-0365. https://doi.org/10.35381/noesisin.v7i2.664.
The collection of facial images through the ECU 911 video surveillance system and the principle of confidentiality presents risks, as no explicit legal regulations were found. This research aims to analyze the impact of the collection of facial images by the ECU911 video surveillance system on the principle of confidentiality of the Organic Law on Data Protection. It identifies a risk due to the lack of explicit regulations governing this practice, which often places it as a potential violation of privacy. Developed with a qualitative approach and cross-sectional design, the methodology was based on the analysis of doctrine, articles, books, and case studies. Using analysis-synthesis and inductive-deductive methods, the relationship between video surveillance and confidentiality was examined. The scope was analytical-explanatory, seeking to understand the effect of recordings on the principle of confidentiality within the ECU 911 SIS.
