RIVERA, Lipselotte, Infante et al. Tourism and comprehensive security in Latin America: A systematic review. e-Rev. Multidiscip. Saber [online]. 2024, vol.2, e-RMS06132024. Epub 13-Dic-2024. ISSN 2960-2467. https://doi.org/10.61286/e-rms.v2i.76.
The article “Tourism and Comprehensive Security in Latin America: A Systematic Review” aims to analyze the relationship between tourism and comprehensive security in the region, identifying the challenges and strategies to improve the perception of security in tourist destinations. The methodology used was a systematic review following the PRISMA protocol guidelines, which allowed an exhaustive collection of relevant studies on the subject. The most important results indicate that comprehensive security is a determining factor in the choice of tourist destinations, since a negative perception of security can significantly affect the flow of visitors. In addition, it was found that destinations that implement effective security policies tend to attract more tourists and improve their competitiveness in the global market. The most relevant conclusion of the study is that, to boost tourism in Latin America, it is crucial to adopt a collaborative approach between the public and private sectors, where comprehensive security strategies are prioritized that not only protect tourists, but also promote a safe and welcoming environment for all. This approach would not only contribute to the growth of the tourism sector, but would also boost the economic and social development of local communities.
