Resumen

FLORES ZAMBRANO, Ingrid Valeria et al. Effective Nursing Strategies for Pain Management in Neonatal Procedures. e-Rev. Multidiscip. Saber [online]. 2024, vol.2, e-RMS13122024.  Epub 03-Jun-2025. ISSN 2960-2467.  https://doi.org/10.61286/e-rms.v2i.113.

Neonatal pain is a sensory and emotional experience that, if not adequately managed, can lead to short- and long-term negative consequences. This review analyzes effective nursing strategies for managing neonatal pain, focusing on non-pharmacological interventions, the role of nurses in pain assessment, and the impact of these practices on neonatal health. An integrative bibliographic review methodology with a descriptive quantitative approach was used, based on the PRISMA method, including 30 studies published between 2019 and 2024. Articles were selected from databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scielo using Boolean operators and keywords related to neonatal pain management. The results highlight the effectiveness of interventions such as skin-to-skin contact (41.7%), non-nutritive sucking (33.3%), and the administration of sweet solutions (16.7%), along with the use of assessment tools such as the FLACC, NIPS, and PIPP scales, each mentioned in 33.3% of the respective studies. However, the implementation of these strategies faces challenges related to lack of training, variability in the use of tools, and the absence of standardized protocols. This study emphasizes the importance of strengthening nursing education, developing more comprehensive tools, and promoting evidence-based practices to optimize neonatal care.
