Traditional games endure as an invaluable cultural legacy, adapting and transmitting across generations with their regional peculiarities in nomenclature, rules, and execution. Beyond mere recreation, these playful practices robustly fortify cultural identity and, crucially, emerge as a pivotal pedagogical strategy for children's emotional education. Their impact unfolds across three essential dimensions: they foster intrapersonal skills, empowering children to recognise and self-regulate their emotions; they cultivate interpersonal proficiencies, promoting effective communication, cooperation, and harmonious coexistence; and they optimise emotional management, preparing learners to confront conflicts and stress adaptively. Collectively, these facets contribute to a more positive and balanced social and educational interaction.This study aims to analyse the pertinence of traditional games in the emotional development of children. To this end, a systematic review employing the PRISMA methodology was conducted, meticulously compiling and examining prior research on the subject. The findings unequivocally confirm that traditional games represent an indispensable pedagogical tool. Their systematic engagement not only propels physical and cognitive advancement but, significantly, also promotes the emotional and social maturation of learners, bolstering their holistic well-being and offering a valuable counterbalance to the exigencies of contemporary digital connectivity. It is concluded that their systematic integration into educational curricula is an ethical and strategic imperative for cultivating emotionally competent and socially integrated individuals.
