Abstract
SANCHEZ ARMIJOS, Tania María; LUNA LUNA, María Augusta and VISCARRA ARMIJOS, Luis Bayron. Treatment of specific phobias through virtual simulations. e-Rev. Multidiscip. Saber [online]. 2025, vol.3, e-RMS09022025. Epub June 25, 2025. ISSN 2960-2467. https://doi.org/10.61286/e-rms.v3i.159.
The use of virtual simulations has emerged as an innovative strategy for the treatment of specific phobias in educational contexts. This approach allows for gradual and controlled exposure to phobic stimuli in a safe environment, promoting systematic desensitization and anxiety reduction. The objective was to assess its impact on the reduction of phobic symptoms and its applicability in mental health in Ecuador. The methodology used was qualitative, based on a systematic literature review following the PRISMA guidelines, with the selection of 15 relevant articles obtained from scientific databases such as PubMed and SCIELO. The results demonstrated that virtual simulations are effective in reducing phobic symptoms, particularly in disorders such as acrophobia and arachnophobia, providing significant reductions in fear and anxiety. In conclusion, virtual simulations present an accessible and effective therapeutic approach, overcoming geographical and economic barriers, and their integration into mental health services in Ecuador is recommended.
