Abstract

HIDALGO-JARA, Yessica et al. Impact of an educational program on positive discipline, parental socialization, and emotional intelligence in adolescents in Huánuco, Peru. e-Rev. Multidiscip. Saber [online]. 2025, vol.3, e-RMS18022025.  Epub June 25, 2025. ISSN 2960-2467.  https://doi.org/10.61286/e-rms.v3i.177.

The way an adolescent is raised has a direct impact on the development of their acquired socioemotional skills. An experimental study was conducted to establish the effectiveness of a training program in positive parenting, parental socialization, and emotional intelligence among young people in the city of Huánuco, thus contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 3 and promoting integrity in most age groups. This study was conducted with 25 adolescents, selected according to specific criteria. A quantitative and pre-experimental approach was used. The results showed significant improvements. Adolescents perceived progress in positive discipline methods. Mothers were no longer perceived as authoritarian and non-authoritarian, and fathers reduced their perceived authoritarian behaviors. Emotional intelligence significantly improved, both intrapersonally and interpersonally. Furthermore, 56% adapted better to changes and better managed daily stress. In conclusion, the intervention proved effective in strengthening positive discipline, fostering healthier family relationships, developing emotional intelligence, and improving adaptability and stress management in adolescents, thus contributing to their overall development.
