ABOUT THE JOURNAL

Basic Information

The Latin American Pediatric Dentistry Journal is the official scientific publication of the Latin American Pediatric Dentistry Association ALOP, which unites all the Scientific Societies of Pediatric Dentistry in Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula. We create actions for the development and training of Pediatric Dentists through scientific and thematic updating, research in Pediatric Dentistry, and related areas. We work for community oral health education and support social health approaches to vulnerable communities in our countries.

The Latin American Pediatric Dentistry Journal is published thanks to the joint effort of all ALOP member societies. The first volume was published in 2011, always following peer review processes, maintaining an uninterrupted semi-annual periodicity. As of 2021, the magazine becomes a continuous publication. It is available free of charge in digital format for all health professionals at the page www.revistaodontopediatria.org.

All works derived from research in Spanish, Portuguese, or English, which comply with the instructions for authors, are received. To achieve acceptance and publication, the manuscripts are previously refereed by the body of reviewers, maintaining confidentiality in the review process and following the recommendations of the International Committee of Editors of Medical Journals ICMJE. The review and evaluation process is clearly described in the Instructions for Authors section.

This publication is open access, completely free, in digital format. No costs are incurred for the authors for the reception, revision, or publication of manuscripts. The principle of gratuitousness is both for the authors of the articles, as well as for the reading public to which it is addressed as expressed in the Budapest declaration. All the work behind proofreading and editing is performed by a team of committed professionals. It is produced non-profit, being the result of the selfless effort of many, with financing exclusively by ALOP, avoiding conflicts of interest.

The Latin American Pediatric Dentistry Journal has expert Editors recognized in the area, with a high level of ethics and professionalism. Likewise, the Editorial Committee is made up of recognized experts in Pediatric Dentistry and related areas, with diverse institutional affiliations and extensive experience.
