Original articles that have not been previously published and that are not being considered for publication in another journal, whatever in print or electronic format, will be considered for publication. The decision to accept for publication is the responsibility of the Editors and is based on the recommendations of the Reviewers. The review process is carried out in a double-blind manner, and the identity of the Referees and Authors remains protected throughout the review process. Between 2017 and 2019, the article rejection rate was 28%. Original manuscripts and all related documentation must be uploaded exclusively in digital form through the online submission link: www.revistaodontopediatria.org, in the segment dedicated to authors. All steps and points stated in the instructions for authors must be followed. Authors must meet the authorship criteria established in the Recommendations for the preparation, information, editing, and publication of academic papers in medical journals prepared by the International Committee of Directors of Biomedical Journals (ICMJE) (http://www.icmje.org/recommendations/translations/spanish2016.pdf) The ethical principles of research defined by the Declaration of Helsinki must be respected. Authors must describe in the Material and Methods section the approval by the Research Ethics Committees of the institution where it was carried out, as well as explicitly clarify the use of informed Consent / Assent where appropriate. MANUSCRIPT REVIEW AND EVALUATION PROCESS The articles to be submitted for review must be uploaded to the platform, in the section corresponding to the authors, following the instructions, and completing each item in detail. To begin the review process, the corresponding author must register on the platform of the Latin American Pediatric Dentistry Journal and follow the steps indicated. The corresponding author is responsible for correctly uploading all the information and files associated with the manuscript that he submits for review. The arbitration process will be carried out in a language, Spanish, Portuguese, or English, which must be selected by the authors. Once the article has been accepted, the authors must send the final version of the accepted manuscript in all three languages to process its final publication. At first, the papers will be evaluated by the editors in terms of compliance with the editorial standards and verification of their adequacy to the objectives of the journal. If the requirements are met, the article will go on to the next review. During the entire editorial process, both reviewers and authors will remain anonymous to the other party. All the articles received will be submitted to the analysis of at least two reviewers, to assess their relevance, originality, merit, scientific method, and statistical precision. If there is a divergence between the evaluators, the Editor may request a third opinion. The evaluator will issue his opinion indicating whether the manuscript was: a) accepted, b) publishable with minor modifications, c) publishable with major modifications d) rejected. The Editor, based on the response of the evaluators, will communicate its decision to the authors. The authors are responsible for making the necessary adjustments and modifications and uploading the corresponding documents in a period of no more than 6 months. After 6 months, the article will be considered rejected. The Editor will approve or reject the manuscript and communicate his decision to the authors. The accepted articles, with the final versions in Spanish, Portuguese, and English, will be reviewed and adapted to the format of the magazine by the Editorial Team, publication will be continuous, in line with the priorities and the availability of space. Once accepted, copyright belongs to the Latin American Pediatric Dentistry Journal. The opinions and concepts issued, as well as the content of the texts of the citations and bibliographic references, are the responsibility of the authors, not necessarily reflecting the opinion of the Editorial Board and the Editors. It must justify the reason for the systematic review and state the objectives of the work, clearly posing the research question. Materials and Methods: Indicates the review protocol. Describes in detail the eligibility criteria for the search (characteristics of the studies), sources of information (database, search periods, etc.), search strategy, research selection process, data extraction and listing, risk of bias of the individual studies, summary measures, synthesis of results (methods to manage and combine results), risk of bias between studies, indicates if other analyzes such as subgroup analysis among others were performed. Indicates whether this secondary study is qualitative (Systematic Review) or quantitative (Meta-analysis) Results: It can start with a figure that expresses the article selection process, highlighting the studies found, those that were selected, and those that were discarded. It presents the characteristics extracted from each study, risk of bias for each study, the result of individual studies preferably through a forest plot, presentation of the synthesis of results from all the meta-analyses carried out, risk of bias between the studies, and present additional test results if performed. Discussion: It summarizes the main results of the evidence including the strengths of each study, clearly discusses the limitations of the individual studies and exposes the conclusions interpreting the results in a global context, and raises possible questions for further research. Conflicts of Interest and Funding: Describes the support and sources of funding for the systematic review. Explain and declare if there are conflicts of interest in carrying out the study.
