SALAZAR-ACEVEDO, Constanza et al. Level of Sexual Satisfaction Among Higher Education Students. Rev Obstet Ginecol Venez [online]. 2026, vol.86, n.1, pp.53-62. Epub 14-Abr-2026. ISSN 0048-7732. https://doi.org/10.51288/00860109.
Objective:
To determine the level of sexual satisfaction among higher education students in the Ñuble Region, Chile, in 2024.
Methods:
A quantitative, descriptive, and cross-sectional study was conducted. The target population included higher education students from the Ñuble Region. Participants were selected through non-probabilistic convenience sampling, resulting in a final sample of 406 students. Sexual satisfaction was measured using the New Sexual Satisfaction Scale (NSSS). Descriptive statistics were applied, including measures of central tendency, standard deviation, minimum, and maximum for quantitative variables, as well as frequency and percentage tables and graphs for qualitative variables.
Results:
A total of 256 participants identified as women, with the predominant age range being 18-20 years (50.2%). Regarding orgasm frequency, most participants reported being satisfied (34.2%), and 29.8% expressed satisfaction with their emotional openness in sexual encounters. However, in terms of the overall questionnaire assessment, 20.4% of women and 12.3% of men reported low sexual satisfaction.
Conclusion:
When analyzing sexual satisfaction according to biological sex, it was found that women showed greater variability in satisfaction levels, both low and very high, compared to men.
