GOMEZ MULETT, ALFONSO e PEREZ SCHMALBACH, ADRIANA. THREE APPROACHES TO TEACH RATIONAL NUMBERS. Saber [online]. 2016, vol.28, n.4, pp.819-827. ISSN 1315-0162.
The interest of this study is focused on the analysis of the problems in teaching numeric systems, particularly in the system of rational numbers as is taught in the seventh grade of elementary education, according to the approaches part-whole, operator and measurement. This study has as theoretical foundation the didactics of mathematics, using a mixed methodology that combines didactic engineering, text analyses and focused interviews. Seeking for an approximation to understand the concept of rational number from these three approaches, the conceptions were explored about rational numbers shared by a group of teachers and the way they teach these concepts through the mediation of textbooks. The results give evidence that the teaching of rational numbers is influenced by the knowledge that the teacher has about them and the content provided by textbooks.
