Resumen

DELGADO-LOZADA, Johana Elizabeth  y  ARIAS, Pablo Ernesto. Productive indices in post-weaning piglets fed cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) liquid silage. Koinonía [online]. 2022, vol.7, n.14, pp.21-31.  Epub 13-Nov-2022. ISSN 2542-3088.  https://doi.org/10.35381/r.k.v7i14.1852.

To evaluate the productive indexes in post-weaning piglets fed with cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) liquid silage. Twenty-four piglets of the Landrace x Pietrain finisher cross of 8.58 ± 0.50 kg were used, which were arranged according to a completely randomized design in three treatments: Control, 2 and 4% silage inclusion in the diet, respectively. The inclusion of cassava silage in the diet of post-weaning pigs had no negative effect on dry matter intake, weight gain, feed conversion and final weight. The good performance of animals treated with liquid cassava silage could be attributed to the presence of prebiotics and probiotics in the diets. In conclusion, the inclusion of 2 and 4% liquid cassava silage in the diet of post-weaning pigs may constitute a viable alternative to reduce the dependence on antibiotics and synthetic growth promoters.
