The purpose of the study "Teaching competencies in inclusive education" was to reflect on teaching competencies for the promotion of inclusive education in the school environment. Methodologically, the qualitative approach and the phenomenological method were used based on the experiences of 8 teachers belonging to the República del Ecuador Basic School. Among the results, the following categories emerged: development of fundamental competencies for inclusive education; need for empathy and flexibility; challenges and opportunities in teacher training; impact on student learning and need for institutional support. In conclusion, it is highlighted that comprehensive support promotes both the optimal and continuous training of students and the professional development of teachers to improve their ability to address diversity in the classroom and ensure quality and equitable education for all.
