Abstract

OLMEDO RODRIGUEZ, Esteban Patricio et al. Impact of sand as a natural didactic resource in the promotion of critical thinking in basic education. Revista InveCom [online]. 2024, vol.4, n.2, e040216.  Epub May 22, 2024. ISSN 2739-0063.  https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.10443517.

This study explored the impact of sand play on the development of critical thinking in children of Basic General Education. The main objective was to investigate how interactions and activities in the sand, such as building structures, role-playing, and tactile exploration, can influence cognitive skills such as problem-solving, creativity, and logical reasoning. The study included a diverse group of students aged between 6 and 10 years, using sand as the main didactic resource in both structured and unstructured sessions. Techniques such as behavioral observations, surveys, and pre- and post-session evaluations were used to measure the impact on critical thinking. The results showed significant improvements in critical thinking skills, suggesting that sand play is a valuable pedagogical tool for cognitive and emotional development.
