Abstract

Within this article, an exhaustive exploration of the pedagogical function of the teaching physician in the training of medical students for the care of obstetric emergencies was carried out. The research, based on interviews with teaching physicians specialized in this field, revealed a central thesis that highlights the crucial importance of the teaching physician as a guide, leader and ethical model in the training process. In response to common challenges, such as variability in clinical experience and time management, adaptive and flexible approaches were identified as effective strategies. Adaptation emerged as a fundamental element to personalize teaching, incorporating realistic simulations, problem-based learning, and educational technologies. While the promotion of active participation and hands-on learning, through interactive scenarios and discussions based on real cases, was established as essential in the educational process. The inclusion of ethics and cultural sensitivity in teaching was recognized as a key factor in developing culturally competent medical professionals. Likewise, educational technologies, such as advanced simulators and virtual reality, were highlighted as effective tools to improve training in obstetric emergencies. The unified conclusion of the article emphasized the urgent need for continuing education for teaching physicians, with participation in scientific events and collaboration with experts as essential strategies. In summary, the retrospective analysis present in this article reveals a holistic and adaptive approach in the teaching of obstetric emergencies, outlining effective practices that have left a positive mark on the training of future medical professionals.
